Heat Preview/Summer Recap

Basketball is finally back! The Miami Heat begins their road to the championship tonight against the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks. Here’s a quick rundown of notable changes before tonight’s tip-off.

Free Agent Pickups

We last saw Miami getting swept by the Bucks in the playoffs. Since then Miami has chopped and changed its personnel. Miami was very active in the free-agent market. After letting Andre Iguodala and Trevor Ariza go they landed a pair of former NBA Champions in Kyle Lowry and P.J. Tucker. Both players help bring championship pedigree and defensive prowess to the team. They also resigned Gabe Vincent, Dewayne Dedmon, and Udonis Haslem.

Summer League standout

Although Miami did not have a pick in the draft, it feels like they have thanks to Omer Yurtseven. The seven-footer went undrafted and played for Miami’s Summer League team. He averaged 7 ppg and 6 rbs over 12 minutes per game. His performances landed him a spot on the team and Spoelstra another piece to make the team more versatile.

Redemption Year?

Many people are having serious questions about Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson following their disappointing season. Both players struggled heavily against the Bucks perimeter defense. However, both players looked efficient in the preseason campaign. Herro averaged 22 ppg while Robinson hovered around 10 ppg

Miami can set the tone with how their season will go and it starts tonight by beating the Bucks and sending a message to the NBA world that we are coming.
